What Should I Do the Day Before the Movers Arrive to Pack My Home?
Let’s start with the kitchen:
Go around and gather all the essential items you’ll need before moving day – this includes a few plates, mugs, bowls, cutlery, and any food you want to keep out. Fridge items can stay where they are. Set aside everything you’ll need for your final night and place them in a clearly marked pile on the counter so the movers know not to pack them.
Next, go through your home and pack a suitcase or overnight bag as if you were going on a short trip. Include:
• A change of clothes
• Pyjamas
• Toiletries
• Medication
• Snacks
• Chargers, iPads, laptops, or any essential electronics
Leave these items on the bed or grouped in one spot, and clearly tell the movers that these are coming with you and should not be packed. Once everything is boxed up, it can be difficult to find specific things—so having a go-to bag will make your first night much easier.
Don’t forget about precious or sentimental items. Movers are not allowed to pack high-value or personal items such as:
• Jewellery
• Passports
• Legal documents (e.g. deeds, bonds)
• Cash or other valuables
These must be packed by you and kept with you during the move or you could contact us for a expert packing service.
We look forward to starting your moving journey and making the process as smooth and stress-free as possible.
